McAfee School of Theology

A part of Mercer University, McAfee School of Theology is located in Atlanta, Georgia. The school of theology was founded in 1994, and the current dean is R. Alan Culpepper.


David G. Garber, Jr. is the Associate Professor of Old Testament and Hebrew at McAfee. He received his B.A. in Religion from Baylor University (1995), his M.Div. and Th.M. from Princeton Theological Seminary (1998-99), and his Ph.D. in Hebrew Bible from Emory University (2005).  Dr. Garber is currently gathering research for a book that focuses on the intersection of biblical interpretation with issues of social justice. In addition to his teaching and research, Dr. Garber has served as the chair for the Hebrew Scriptures/Old Testament section of the Southeastern Commission for the Study of Religion (SECSOR).
