Blessed Earth has recently awarded a $4,000 grant to Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary’s Sustainability Committee for the execution of an American Society of Heating, Refrigerating and Air-Conditioning Engineers (ASHRAE) Level II Energy Audit of 400,000 square feet of Gordon-Conwell space. The audit will empower the Seminary by identifying and establishing a comprehensive inventory of all energy consuming equipment, building sequence of operations, maintenance and operations practices, building occupant practices, building envelope makeup, and utility data analysis. The audit will also identify areas of opportunity including capital expense and no cost/low cost recommendations with the goal of reducing the seminary’s overall energy footprint.
This is a great step forward in Gordon-Conwell implementing their stewardship plan that they devised under the instruction of Blessed Earth. This energy audit will help the Gordon-Conwell campus become more energy efficient while playing a seminal role in exposing future leaders of the church how they can make a worthwhile investment to both save money, while also fulfilling the Biblical mandate to care for creation.
