Fuller Theological Seminary

Fuller Seminary was founded in 1947 by Charles E. Fuller, and is located in Pasadena, California. Their current president is Mark Labberton. Fuller joined the SSA in 2012, as a founding partner school.

Mission Statement: Fuller Theological Seminary, embracing the School of Theology, School of Psychology, and School of Intercultural Studies, is an evangelical, multidenominational, international, and multiethnic community dedicated to the equipping of men and women for the manifold ministries of Christ and his Church. Under the authority of Scripture we seek to fulfill our commitment to ministry through graduate education, professional development, and spiritual formation. In all of our activities, including instruction, nurture, worship, service, research, and publication, Fuller Theological Seminary strives for excellence in the service of Jesus Christ, under the guidance and power of the Holy Spirit, to the glory of the Father.

 

 

SSA Liaisons:

profile-givensDr. Tommy Givens is assistant professor of New Testament studies. He holds a ThD in Theological Ethics and New Testament from Duke Divinity School. Having previously taught theology at Centro Teológico Al-Andalus in Spain, he teaches courses at Fuller in Spanish as well as English. In addition to New Testament studies and theological ethics, Givens’s research interests include Christian nonviolence, political theory, and Scriptural reasoning for Jewish-Christian-Muslim relations.

Jeff DeSurra is an Instructional Designer at Fuller Theological Seminary. Jeff helps faculty think through course design, pedagogical effectiveness, and making the transition from face-to-face to online classes. He earned his Masters of Divinity from Princeton Theological Seminary and his MS. in Education from Purdue University. Jeff has recently started working with faculty and administration to begin finding ways implement sustainability measures at Fuller through alternative energy sources and infrastructure changes to be more responsible with their environmental resources. 2016 is Jeff’s first year as a liaison for the Seminary Stewardship Alliance.
